John Littleford - The Tennis Coach
About John Littleford - the tennis coach
Coaching ExperienceI learned to walk on a tennis court! I’ve played tennis since the age of 8, and I’ve taught my favourite game for over 30 years. I’ve been Head Coach at many clubs over the years, including Barnet Tennis Club; Our Lady of Muswell Tennis Club; David Lloyd Club in Chigwell, and the Next Generation Club, at Gidea Park. I have taught players of all levels and ages; even including players who have played Wimbledon, and other grand slam tournaments.
Fast Track Teaching Method
I created the Modern Tennis method of teaching tennis, with my friend and fellow tennis coach, Andy Magrath. It’s a revolutionary accelerated learning method that helps to make tennis incredibly easy for players of all levels, to improve quickly.
Andy and I have tutored many coaches and players using this method, both internationally and around the UK, to great success.
Andy and I wrote a Tennis Coaching book, called ‘Tennis Strokes and Tactics’ which is currently on sale online, on Amazon, Blackwell’s, World of Books, Book Depository and more.
Having taken my first steps in this world on a grass court, it was inevitable that tennis would become my passion. At Junior level I represented the UK at international tournaments. I became champion of Middlesex at Under 21 level and later was Doubles Champion for Hertfordshire. I represented both Middlesex and Hertfordshire, at different times, in County matches for many years.
I’m still lucky enough to play for Hertfordshire, at Over 45 level, and enjoy club tennis every week.
My Teaching Philosophy
For most people, Tennis is a hard game to play, and that is usually because of one of two reasons – either the player has had no coaching, ever, or has been taught the conventional, slow, tedious method employed by most national tennis organisations. The truth is, many people – even those with really good ball sense, find tennis boring. Usually because there are so few rallies, and it is so hard to keep the ball in the court.
However, it doesn’t have to be that way...
Tennis, in essence, is a very simple game to play, and all you really need to know is, how to control the ball; to time your strokes properly, and have a feel of exactly what you are doing! Discover this and you are hooked, tennis becomes the best sport in the world! This is what I can teach you, very easily.
Tennis will feel so natural to you!
I teach the extraordinarily successful, and simple Modern Tennis method, which teaches players to control the ball with spin from the beginning. Just by sorting out the fundamentals early on, i.e. your tracking of the ball; the timing of the contact; the feel of the ball, and the finish of the racket head. You will enjoy the quickest and most effective way to improve your tennis today.
My teaching philosophy works because I teach my students the deep learning method that instils new ways into habits ...before you know it. It really is easy to learn, and incredibly effective.
I teach by the hour, at various courts within the SG area of Hertfordshire – including your own if you have one.
My per person hourly rate is either £20, £25 or £40, depending on whether I teach 3 or 2 people together, or just 1.
I’m available on week days from early morning to mid-afternoon.
